What are the benefits of a face and neck lift?
Dr. Leeman is able to minimize visible signs of aging by smoothing loose skin on the face and neck and tightening the underlying tissue and muscles. In addition to an enhanced physical appearance, most patients experienced heightened self-image and self-esteem.
Are there significant risks associated with face and neck lift surgery?
As with any surgery, there is some amount of risk involved in facelift surgery. Complications and risks specific to facelift surgery include nerve injury, bruising and swelling, infection, adverse reactions to anesthesia and problems with the healing of the skin. Smokers have a higher risk of complications during the skin healing process.
Am I a good candidate for a face and neck lift?
Men and women who have sagging skin with a fair amount of elasticity make the best candidates for face and neck lifts. A strong underlying bone structure will also contribute to the success of the procedure. While most patients are between the ages of 40 and 70, people older than 70 can benefit from a face and neck lift.
Can I expect permanent results from a face and neck lift?
While results will vary from person to person, most people can expect to enjoy tightened skin with fewer wrinkles for approximately 10 years or longer.
How long does a face and neck lift procedure take?
Dr. Leeman’s neck and facelift generally last two to four hours. Depending on needs and desires of his patients, this timeframe can vary.
Is a face and neck lift performed under general anesthesia?
It is not necessary to undergo general anesthesia during your surgery. Dr. Leeman has performed many face and neck lift surgeries under local anesthesia with sedation. If you would prefer to have general anesthesia, this remains an option.
What can I expect after the surgery and how long before I can resume normal activities after my face and neck lift?
The recovery time can vary from one week to several weeks, depending on the individual and the extent of the procedure. Most people are able to return to work and normal activities between 10 and 14 days after the face and neck lift surgery. However, some swelling and bruising may take up to three weeks to disappear completely. Please keep in mind that sun exposure should be limited. Dr. Leeman advises against any strenuous activity for at least three weeks.
