What is Perlane?
Perlane® is a cosmetic dermal filler used to treat wrinkles, facial folds and depressions almost anywhere on the face. It is made of a gel that contains non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA). Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. “Non-animal” means that Perlane® does not contain any ingredients derived from animal products. Consequently, there is little risk of allergic reactions, and the client does not need to undergo any allergy tests before the treatment.
How is it Used?
Perlane® is an injectable, so the practitioner administers it through skillful injection. Perlane® treatments are outpatient procedures performed in the comfort of our office. The treatment session usually takes only minutes. The results will be immediately visible.
Perlane® is biodegradable and will therefore be absorbed by the body within about six months or so. The good news is the treatments can be safely repeated at our office whenever necessary for ongoing results.
One of the best things about this treatment is that little to no recovery is involved. As such, after the treatment, patients can return to most all of their everyday activities. This is a convenient treatment for people with busy schedules and lifestyles.
Who is a Good Candidate for Perlane® Injections?
A healthy adult is the ideal candidate for Perlane® injections. It is also important to have realistic expectations regarding the treatment, as well as the results. Ideal candidates understand that Perlane® is not going to change what they look like entirely. It is not designed to make a patient look like a different person. What it is designed to do is correct certain skin issues in a subtle, natural-looking way.
