What is a CT Scan? The Xoran MiniCAT device is capable of scanning and providing high-resolution imaging of the sinuses, temporal bones, and skull base.
With an in-office CT scan, patients can sit in an upright position in an open environment, rather than the confining full-body scanners that are used at hospitals. This allows for increased patient comfort and an improved treatment experience.
The MiniCAT provides immediate access to images at the patient’s point-of-care resulting in faster diagnosis and treatment. The MiniCAT is capable of performing a complete acquisition and reconstruction in less than 25 seconds. The MiniCAT does not sacrifice efficiency for speed, however, these images yield superb image quality allowing physicians to examine the most intricate anatomy in fine detail.
A MiniCAT sinus scan has a lower radiation dose than sinus scans by a full-body conventional CT scanner, due to the MiniCAT being designed according to the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle. The MiniCAT allows both a view of the sinuses as well as a reduction of radiation dose, and it does so without compromise.
